Abandoned

My pictures originally focused on shots of my construction, restoration, and preservation work, including insect and water damage, code compliance, and/or just remodeling.  Abandonment photography is different.  It celebrates what we built: architecture, machines, infrastructure, and even furniture, for example, and what happens when we abandon them.  In general, we abandon them because of money, which gets into a boring business discussion.  What’s beautiful and artistic is that when Nature takes over, interesting things happen.  Plants and animal life start to flourish, architecture and engineering start to change, and a certain fascinating aesthetic that is beautiful in its own way is created.
